Jim talks about his work

I joined Forge in 2001, on my second year out after degree, and re-joined the practice permanently in 2003.

My first project was actually working on 6-8 Cole Street, the offices we now occupy. It’s great to work in a building that I had some involvement in the creation of.

I’m currently working on the construction of industrial units in Essex & 26 affordable homes in Barnet (both on site), and also the early design stages of an exciting new mixed-use development in Haringey that is set to become our largest project to date. There are also a couple of roof extensions to office buildings close to London Bridge in the pipeline. A real mix of jobs!

My favourite built project would have to be Marmont Road. It is so satisfying to see a project from inception through to completion. The client and contractor were both on board with retaining the quality of the design in the final built form. It was also a rare occasion that the construction phase went very smoothly!
