Forge secured planning permission to erect a 15-meter high statue of legendary engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel, designed by local artist and blacksmith Kevin Boys. This proposal incorporates associated landscaping and follies that demonstrate the historical importance of the area through education and social interaction.The statue commemorates the historical importance of the area and celebrates Brunel’s achievements. Brunel worked on the nearby Thames Tunnel, built in 1832 to link Wapping and Rotherhithe.
